Bakkafrost is a leading producer of quality salmon in the world. Bakkafrost is one of the world’s most vertically integrated salmon farming companies with several production facilities in the Faroe Islands and Scotland.

Bakkafrost needed a customized system for pumping smolt easily from their fish tanks to their transport vehicles at their onshore smolt facilities in Húsar and Gjógv on the Faroe Islands. The requirement from the customer was to have a foolproof system that could be operated by anyone without technical knowledge. Using our expertise in water solutions and composite materials, we developed a manifold six-way valve solution with integrated lighting. The motorized system is controlled by a tablet and enables the site operators to filter and select smolt in a simple way. The use of plexi glass top surfaces gives full visibility into the system.
